My book

My book…a nostalgic reflection, still relevant today 

When I was little

my grandmother bought me many journals

always encouraging me to write

and promising that one day I would publish a book. 

A few weeks ago

I ran into a friend

who I hadn’t seen in a very long time. 

She excitedly told me that now that her daughter is 12

my book

Beautiful

is finally relevant in her house. 

She had bought the book years ago,

when we first translated it to Hebrew

and just waited until the time was right. 

Tears came to my eyes

when I heard the emotion in her voice

the feeling 

that she has an ally

in this challenging work

of raising a daughter. 

This was the vision of my original publisher

that I could help him 

and other parents like him

talk to their daughters. 

The work of writing this book 

was years of facilitating circles

listening to girls

share what was in their hearts. 

Many of these girls

are now mothers

role models

for the generations that are coming. 

Somehow, the messages of this book

the messages of loving ourselves

honoring our bodies

weaving nourishing relations

and listening to our inner voices

are still completely relevant. 

So…in honor of my friend

and her daughter

I share again with you

this baby of mine

who is now 8 years old

and still very much alive.
