Is spring pushing you out of your comfort zone?

A few days ago, in our last meeting of the women’s collective,
a number of the women on the call talked about
the impact of the energy of the coming of spring.
"Spring is beautiful, and it’s hard to feel ready to flourish
when the world is full of so much darkness.”
One of the elders in our group
spoke about a feeling that when the spring comes,
there is something in her that shuts down.
Outside, new life is emerging
and even so, you feel a longing to go deeper inside.
As she shared, the women in the group nodded in agreement.
When the spring arrives
there is an energy that pushes you into action
and sometimes you just are not ready
for that transition.
Sometimes you just need a bit more winter.
Sometimes you need to take a little more time
to go inside
and be with the darkness.
In a world that is pushing you toward constant action,
it is really natural to need a bit more time to rest.
You might also feel this as a sense of not wanting to get out of bed in the morning.
That time of the night transitioning into morning
is the same shift
as when the winter turns into spring.
If you are feeling this challenge in the changing seasons
try to give it some space and legitimacy.
When you can, give yourself a few extra minutes to rest in your bed in the morning.
If it is possible, give yourself a moment at some point during your week
to feel the darkness, even as the world explodes with new life.
More than anything, be compassionate with the feeling
even if it contradicts what’s happening around you.
Be gentle with yourself in these times of change. Transition is hard.
