LIVING WELL WITH GRIEF
simple tools to integrate grief so that you can walk with it healthfully in your daily life
Grief is so present, yet we often don't give it the time or attention needed to become a transformative power.
And for good reasons. Life is very full and it can be scary to touch the pain of grief. It can also be really challenging to look at grief alone, and many of us don't have the community support to face it together.
Still, it's nearly impossible to ignore the impact of loss, both personal and collective, in these times of so much movement and change.
Fortunately, it can actually be liberating to touch our grief, to allow ourselves to feel the sweetness in the gifts that reveal themselves when we are willing to feel. In fact, I think it's necessary for our health.
In this free workshop we will:
-
recognize the pervasiveness of grief on the individual and collective levels
-
acknowledge grief as a gateway to more authentic relations with other humans and all of life
-
practice being present with grief in a healthy way, particularly through ritual so that it can nourish us and serve as fertile ground for rebirth
There will also be time to share and discuss, together.
Much of what we will do is inspired by lessons that come through the Dance of the Spirits, a traditional ceremony in which we honor the lives of the ones who no longer walk the earth. This ceremony has been instrumental in my personal grief journey over the past decade, as I have learned to live well with grief since my mom's sudden death in a car accident 11 years ago.
Grief is an essential part of life, because death and love are essential as well. Grief is what we feel when we lose what we love.

A few words from a participant in a recent retreat about collective grief:
“I am so grateful that I could have been part of this experience. You created an amazing kind space, where my body, and particularly my heart and my soul could pay attention to what was needed — to pay attention to grief and and at the same time to new experiences of inner power and integrity.
”After trying many different therapies and bodywork this is a new experience. I recognized how important is to stay faithfully with whatever arises…not to be afraid of what will come and where it will lead. And then the reward emerges – now I feel a lightened space without the heaviness of past experiences and memories, open to new moments. Thank you for this ceremony, that has been a great anchor…and for your kindness that penetrated everything.” — Daniela Sroubkova, 55
About Naomi
For the past 25 years, I have been holding spaces for collective healing for young people and adults. In this time have witnessed hundreds of people reclaim their authentic relations with life. For the past 15 years, I have been apprenticed to Carmen Vicente, spiritual leader from the high Andes of Ecuador, from whom I have learned to remember the art of directing our attention, particularly to the simple wisdom of the cycles of the earth as well as how to work with ritual and ceremony for human health.
This wisdom has been incredibly supportive in my personal journey of integrating my grief since my mom’s death in a car accident 11 years ago.
